How would you describe yourself as a person?
I like solving problems—everything from small hobby projects to complex work tasks. My love for creating, repairing, and fixing things comes from the time I spent building with LEGOs at a very young age. When I was little, I also wanted to be an astronaut because I was a very curious child. Now, according to myself, I am an astronaut. My users are aliens who become human the more we understand their needs and the needs of their organizations, aka alien planets.
I love working to understand people’s needs, solve design problems, and create business and societal benefits with people in focus.
How did you end up at Paliscope?
I read about the company and felt that we would be a good match for each other—so I applied for the position.
What is your role here?
I work as a UX designer. UX stands for User Experience. The role as a UX designer is multifaceted. To meet users’ needs, part of the work is about conducting surveys and analysis. I try to get as clear a picture as possible of what the users want, and how to create a product that interacts with them in the best way. I work a lot with developing concepts and prototypes, using both hi-fi and lo-fi techniques.
What was it like to start at Paliscope in the middle of a pandemic?
It was scary at first but now, a few months in, I have really found my flow. There was a little trial and error.
What are you working on right now?
Right now, I’m focused on improving the reporting feature in Discovry. It’s essential for our users—it’s with the help of the reporting feature that cases are closed. In particular, we are looking into how we can offer more customized reporting, because different users have different needs. I’m creating prototypes to see if we can achieve desired goals and user needs. The plan is to introduce new features in the future, such as the ability to change the order of specific elements in the report, exclude certain items, create custom groups, and more.

What’s the best part of working at Paliscope?
The best thing about working at Paliscope is that I get to be involved in and influence so many important changes in society, within the crime fighting world. A big plus is that, since starting here, I’ve never experienced Sunday anxiety.
What’s a fun fact we might not know about you?
People randomly spill their guts to me a lot in real life. Even strangers…
Thanks Fatlume!
