A large insurance company in the Nordic countries (who wish to be anonymous in this case) needed a better way to secure evidence from social media platforms.
They often work with fraud cases where they find pictures on Facebook or other social media accounts of people who claim not to be able to work. But on social media, they share photos while skydiving, renovating their homes, or doing other activities that show they are not telling the truth.
Before Paliscope, the insurance company was taking screenshots from social media as evidence of their findings. However, they had no way to prove in a courtroom or for legal departments where and when they took the screenshots.
This caused a problem because if their evidence ended up in court – it would easily become disregarded.
