Chats are an integral feature of social media and instant messaging platforms, such data can be collected and subsequently analyzed in order to identify discussions between criminals.

Using a variety of methods, Digital Investigators and Intelligence Operators can extract chat data from social media and instant messaging applications. However, such data is often significantly large in quantity depending of the overall volume of individuals contributing to a discussion. Navigating through these discussions is a fundamental capability for intelligence personnel.

In this second of a two-part webinar series, we will demonstrate – using real-life extracted chats from several far-right groups – how to analyze chat data extracted from open-sources including social media and instant messaging applications using the Chat Analytics capabilities of YOSE.
