A military intelligence section was assigned to support the military decision-making process during peacekeeping operations by identifying a suitable location for a field hospital. But the lack of infrastructure within the general Area of Operations and persistent threats from rival armed factions were challenging.
Consequently, it was determined that an advanced guard of military intelligence operators would deploy to the Area of Operations to identify and help address various needs and challenges, including Force Protection, mobility, and access to communications infrastructure.
To undertake the mission effectively, a large volume of data and information would need to be collected from multiple sources and analyzed.
Additionally, there was a crucial need to undertake such data processing offline with the support of effective geo-location visualization, network relationship, and offline translation utilities.
Paliscope Explore™ was fully implemented within the military intelligence section and used for advanced guard operators to collate and analyze tactical and operational data on the spot.
As an offline intelligence analysis utility, Explore was used to index data – enabling military intelligence operators to fully use Explore’s own AI capabilities to fulfill several operational requirements.
Indexed data was used to map local network relationships based on facial recognition of imagery and video footage and identify weapon systems of interest. Explore’s Chat Analytics module was also used to analyze intercepted communications between leaders from rival armed factions.
The data was fused with separate source intelligence obtained from Electronic Warfare (EW), Signals Intelligence (SIGINT), and Technical Surveillance, resulting in the identification of IMSI numbers of interest.
The intelligence team integrated Paliscope Explore’s Geo Analytics module into the Intelligence Preparation of the Environment and Battlespace Area Evaluation processes.
This enabled military intelligence operators to map human terrain within the Area of Operations and identify potentially hostile routes and locations from which future Influence Operations could be directed.
The result was a fast, effective, and efficient deployment of forces. In addition, medical support for civilians affected by conflict was safely established.
Understanding the threat environment and human terrain lay down within a defined Area of Operations with little or non-existent access to infrastructure.
The military decision-making process requires that military forces understand the situation within their Area of Operations and, more crucially, how the situation affects their own personnel and/or assets. In the same regard, military forces need to understand every bit of the Area of Operations, such as the terrain they are facing, the human terrain markup in addition to new and existing threats.
Military intelligence organizations apply the Intelligence Cycle by first coordinating the collection of data and information from ISTAR [Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition, and Radar] assets, including Covert Human Intelligence Sources (CHIS), Tactical Surveillance, and Electronic Warfare (EW) – to name but a few.
The Paliscope Intelligence Platform enables military forces to efficiently and effectively process large volumes of all-source intelligence and multiple-source data. This capability enables military forces to conduct effective tactical and operation-level fusion and produce actionable intelligence on a standalone deployable laptop on the field – entirely offline.
